Hi guys! I'm Jenn, welcome to my page and my adventures! I have spent the majority of my adult life chasing the American dream, and I'm over it. I'm trading my comfortable suburban life and 2200 sq ft home, for a 400 sq ft RV and a life full of adventure. My family and I have decided to choose experiences over things. We are ridding our lives of excess, learning to live small, travel, and make the most of every single day. This has always been our dream, but we kept waiting. We were waiting for the kids to grow up, for our mortgage to be paid off, for early retirement..... we have been waiting rather than living. My husband is now dealing with unexpected and seemingly unmanageable health issues. We have realized that time and health are both very precious. We don't want to waste any of the time or good health that we have right now just waiting. I plan to share my journey with all of you, in hopes of encouraging and inspiring you to chase your dreams too!

It's more difficult than we expected

November 14, 2018

The RV life has definitely been a learning experience for our family. We have had such an exciting year, but it wasn't without it's struggles. I don't like to complain, but I do want to be completely honest because I know a lot of people who are considering this lifestyle for themselves and their families.

We purchased a brand new 2018 Roadwarrior 427 at the end of 2017. It spent the first 3 months after we bought it, in the shop having repairs made! Yup, a brand new unit needed repairs. Keep in mind the popularity of RVs and fifth wheels right now.... they are more popular than ever, and they're being produced much more quickly than they were in the past. I can't help but think that the mass production process has impacted the quality of the units.

Throughout the last 6 months while we have lived in the Roadwarrior, we have had an RV repair service here more times than I'd like to talk about. It's very frustrating. Most recently we have discovered that our Roadwarrior needs a new roof and has been leaking, causing some water damage. We are very close to the holidays right now so this is probably the worst possible time for this. We live here! We need our home! If you are considering this for yourselves, you should keep in mind that an RV, just like a vehicle, may need to go in for repairs. When that happens you need to consider hotel costs, or possibly even renting a furnished apartment if the repairs will be time consuming. When you purchase insurance for your unit, you will need to ensure that it can help with those expenses if you need to utilize them.

I want you to remember though, that this is life. We ran into big issues owning a home that were costly and time consuming as well. Our Roadwarrior is still under warranty so thankfully the majority of our issues are covered. I would suggest purchasing an extended warranty if you plan to use your RV for fulltime living. Life happens! It's going to continue to happen in your RV.

This is still very unfamiliar to me.... it's very different than living in a traditional home. It  requires patience, persistence, and a positive attitude! I feel very lucky to live with people who always fix problems, rather than dwell on them. We are not prepared to give up on our dreams. None of us give up quickly.... a dream is worth fighting for, and big dreams typically don't come true without work. If you're planning to jump head first into fulltime rv living like we did, be prepared to work! It'll be worth it.
